This has been a life changing 4 weeks
for every single person on this planet.

Each and every one of us has a different perspective and perhaps a different way of dealing with this crisis. Above all, we need to be compassionate and kind to one another.

I don't know about you, but when I am out at the grocery store, I see the calm panic in everyone's eyes. No one knows what the person in front of them is dealing with. Perhaps the person in the grocery store trying really hard to maintain their physical distancing, wearing a mask and gloves, is doing so because their spouse is at home battling stage 4 cancer. Or, is it possible that this epidemic is generating crippling fear so badly in the gentleman behind you that he cannot sleep at night? It is kindness and compassion that will help us through this. Remember to say thank-you to every front-line worker that you see (grocery staff, doctors, nurses etc.) they are the hero's in our lives right now, putting their health at risk so we can keep our families safe. A smile, even with a mask on, will shine from your eyes and will go a long way in brightening someone's day. I know we must be diligent in our social distancing, but a kind word to a stranger may very well be the one thing that helps them get through their day. The message here is simple; forget the judgement and send love.

Dr. Will and I remain available to see patients for emergency purposes. If you are in pain, please reach out to us at 705-728-3070. We may be able to help you over the phone with some icing, and/or stretching techniques. Rest assured, If we suggest an appointment, we are taking every precaution to keep the office safe for you and for us. We are following all guidelines from the Ministry of Health and our regulatory body.

As all of us are in the comfort of our homes and many of you are working from home, it is quite possible that your computer set-up is not as ergonomically sound as your regular office setup. Here are some tips and suggestions for you:

  • Set your phone alarm to go off every 20 minutes, simply stand up, reset your posture muscles and sit right back down.
  • Keep both feet planted on the ground.
  • Relax your shoulders, don't bunch them up to your ears.
  • Follow Johnston Health Center on Facebook or our YouTube channel for additional stretches.

In closing, Dr. Will, Wendy and I genuinely believe we will all get through this together and stronger than ever. We are now reminded of the things we must never again take for granted. We will come out of this more grateful and humble than we were before.

Thank you for doing your part by staying at home, washing your hands and practicing social distancing.

Yours in Health,

Dr. William & Dr. Erin Johnston
