Chronic Pain
Chronic pain is defined as pain that lasts at least 12 weeks. Whereas acute pain is the normal sensation that alerts us to injury or illness, chronic pain persists. The pain could be sharp or dull, causing a burning or aching sensation in the affected areas. Chronic pain can occur in any part of your body, and can be steady or intermittent. It is very common, affecting as many as 8 in 10 adults.
The causes of chronic pain vary. It can be caused by a musculoskeletal injury, nervous system dysfunction, chronic diseases, or autoimmune disorders.
